Cloth Diapers, Diaper Bags, and Baby Diapers

Cloth DiapersBaby diapers are a messy, but essential part of being a parent. They are available from dozens of manufacturers, and come in numerous styles and sizes, including both disposable and cloth diapers. There are also many other diaper-related accessories that come with parenting, such as diaper bags, changing tables, and used diaper bins. For new parents, however, knowing which diapers are the best options for their children can be confusing at best. Fortunately, with a little research, one can easily sift through the possibilities.

ButterflyKissesDiapers.com is dedicated to an often-overlooked aspect of child-rearing, baby diapers. When a child is born, much ado is made about buying cribs, car seats, and the like, but few people realize just how much money a parent can spend on something as simple as diapers over the first few years of a child’s life. We have therefore taken it upon ourselves to be a resource of information for new parents that want to learn more about what is available in today’s world of nappies. We do not endorse or promote one company or manufacturer over another, and as such we are free to produce information that is as honest and unbiased as possible. It should also be noted that our website is strictly for informational purposes only, and we do not sell any product.

For the last several decades, disposable diapers have been the most popular variety on the market. This is largely due to the fact that they are very, very convenient, as they can be simply thrown away once they have been soiled. The downside to this convenience is two-fold. First, disposable diapers account for over three million tons of landfill waste each year in this country, and this number continues to grow annually. Secondly, because most disposable diapers are made from plastic, they are generally not biodegradable, meaning that they will forever be a part of those landfills.

The alternatives to the disposable variety are, of course, cloth diapers. Prior to the late 20th century, this particular style of diaper was the norm, not the exception, and in recent years they have made a bit of a comeback. Cloth offers a variety of advantages over their disposable counterparts, the most important of which (at least for most parents) are financial. The problem with disposable diapers is that parents constantly have to buy box after box as they are used up. Cloth versions, on the other hand, can be used over and over again without having to buy more, and as such they are less expensive in the long term. Of course, the downside to this is that these diapers have to be cleaned before they can be reused, which is a process that most people would not look forward too.
